510/238-9200 In Association with Yoshi's, we are proud to present Brazil's legendary multi-instrumentalist , Hermeto Pascoal. Pascoal is a treasure in the international music community. As the father figure for vanguard Brazilian jazz, Pascoal has produced pioneering music whose influence has touched generations of musicians from all genres. Among his students are fellow Brazilians Milton Nascimento, Flora Purim and Airto, and Jovino Santos Neto. He has also performed and recorded with Miles Davis. Known for whimsical complexity in his music, Pascoal is a self-made prodigy with a mastery over countless styles in both compostition and in musicianship as he performs with virtuosic skill on virtually any instrument imaginable. Pascoal is a sonic explorer and he can extract engaging sounds out of objects ranging from pots and pans to sewing machines. The ensemble playing of his groups is flawless and exhilirating, with listeners grooving to a samba one minute and hanging on for some free jazz the next. INTERESTING HERMETO LINK:
